House Rules and Manual
-
AC/Central Heating
IMPORTANT RULES - to avoid issues with the units:
1. The AC units should NEVER be turned down below 69 degrees.
2. If the doors are open, the AC units MUST be turned off—cannot be left on.
We have one Mini Split in every room. The remote control for each is located somewhere on the wall within the same room.
Understanding how to use the controllers correctly can be tricky. Here’s the MANUAL to make it easier.

Pool and Spa Heating Instructions
Here is the LINK to reserve pool heating (80-82 degrees). Here is the LINK to reserve spa heating. Both links work on a per-day basis, so for 2 days you would put ‘2’ in the quantity drop-down.
How spa heating works, once you’ve made the payment:
Schedule in advance — You can let us know when you'd like the spa to be turned on and off, and we will schedule it ahead of time.
Use as you go — Alternatively, you can let us know a few hours before you're ready to use the spa, and then again when you're finished!
If both pool and spa heating are reserved, we will alternate between the two as requested.
-
Pool and Spa Safety
Pools and hot tubs are fantastic and fun, but they can also be hazardous. The floors around the spa and pool can be very slippery when wet. No jumping or diving, running, rough play, food or glass in the pool and Jacuzzi area.
Children should be watched at all times when outside, as the pool has no cover. Children aged 11 and under may not use the hot tub. Children ages 12 to 17 may use the hot tub with adult supervision only. Children in and around these must be supervised at all times by an adult.
Intoxicants and bodies of water are a risky combination.
Remember, you are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of all others on the property during your stay.
-
Pool and Spa Cleaning
Please shower and wash off all makeup and lotions prior to entering the pool or spa. Please do not bring food or drinks near the pool or spa. We provide the most comprehensive spa cleaning service available, please help us maintain our pristine water. Any damage to the pool and/or hot tub, and any cleaning costs beyond the typical amount will result in extra fees.
Our pool and spa tech will arrive every Monday and Thursday for regular service.
-
Supplies
An initial supply of trash liners, toilet paper, paper towels, and soap is provided. Extra items needed are the responsibility of the tenant. Limited cleaning supplies may be provided. We recommend that you bring any special items that you may need. You’ll find enough towels for your stay below the sinks in all bathrooms.
-
Laundry
The laundry facilities at each house are only open to the contracted guests at each house. We do not provide laundry detergent, so please bring some if you plan to use the laundry facilities.
The facilities in Casa Una are located inside to the left as you enter the front door. The facilities in Casa Dua are located outside across from the BBQ grill, behind a single door.

We found an amazing instructional video, linked HERE.
-
TV
Remote controls are beside the TVs. Please log in with your account to any app on our Smart TVs. Please remember to log out at the end of your stay.
-
WIFI
The Wifi Passcode is “cloudyguest”.
The Wifi Modem and Satellite Radio Equipment should not be turned off, unplugged, or touched unless instructed to do so by a manager, owner, or Mojave Wifi employee. Damage to equipment due to disregard of these rules will result in equipment replacement fees starting at $200.
-
Sound System
While you may see installed speakers on the ceilings, we are not yet able to control our sound system.
-
Outdoor Firepit
Be fire-safe first and foremost. To use the fire pit, turn the key-knob slightly to let out some gas, then use a long lighter in the center of the fire pit to turn on the fire. Turn it up or down by turning the knob.
-
BBQ Grill
All equipment needed to use the BBQ grill is in the cabinet under the grill. Please keep it clean. Pro tip: clean it while it’s still hot to get all the sticky stuff off.
-
Fire Safety
Exercise fire safety at all times: No fireworks, firearms or lit candles of any kind. Any cost incurred by a visit from the Fire Department for a guest-caused incident is to be paid by the guest.
-
Trash
Take all trash to the dumpster by the entrance of the property.
-
No Smoking
Sol e Cielo is a non-smoking property. Smoking is only allowed outside the front gate. Out of respect for the desert, you must remove all cigarette butts from the property to avoid additional cleaning fees. Any sign of smoking will result in additional cleaning fees starting at $100.
-
Extra Guests
During your stay, no more than the contracted number of people may be on the property. If you wish to invite others over, you must first write to us for permission. This helps us manage expectations for our housekeepers and the impact on the house, and comply with local laws.
Violation of this rule results in at least a $200 fine per extra guest per night and in some cases may result in an immediate eviction from the property forfeiture of your security deposit.
-
Noise
Sound travels very far in the desert. Please be considerate of the neighbors and keep music and voices at a respectful volume at all times. All guests must comply with the county-wide noise ordinance of no amplified music or loud noises outdoors after 10 p.m.
-
Photo Shoots
Our property is a beautiful place to shoot photos, and we welcome you to tag us on Instagram (@CasasSolECielo). Professional shoots, however, must be cleared with us in advance of your stay. If you are in doubt, inquire first.
-
Electrical Usage
Please be respectful of the delicate desert environment and turn off whatever’s not in use. When rooms are not in use, turn off lights and fans. When you leave the home, turn off all lights and the AC systems. So on, so forth…
-
Wildlife Safety
Joshua Tree is wilderness land. This means there are numerous animals with whom we share space. From coyotes to snakes to adorable rabbits, life is everywhere in the desert. And just like the prickly cacti that populate the area, some of these animals can be dangerous. Treat nature with respect. Do not leave food outside, and do not leave food out overnight indoors. Do not allow children to explore unattended. You are solely responsible for your safety and the safety of all others on the property during your stay.
-
Dark Skies at Night
Please do not leave exterior lights on once you have gone to bed. Light pollution is taken seriously in the desert. Please don’t take away from others’ star gazing experiences.
-
Water Tank
We’re off-grid here in the desert. Since water flows into our brand new water heater from the local water tank, keep your showers short and sweet and you won’t run out of hot water.
-
Septic Tank
We are on a septic system - all food particles and coffee grounds need to be thrown in the trash. Only water can go down the drain, and no artificial materials (no more than a handful of toilet paper) in the toilets. Wipes are for trash only. The septic system doesn’t have issues when these rules are followed. Any cost incurred by a visit from the plumber for a septic related issue is to be paid by the guest.
-
Neat and Tidy
Guests agree to leave the premises and its contents in the same condition, neat and tidy, as guests found the premises to be upon check-in.
An outlandishly messy home will incur extra cleaning fees.
-
Security Deposits
Deductions to the security deposit may include (but are not limited to) items such as: - Linens and Towels missing or soiled beyond cleaning - Small breakage items (e.g., glasses and plates) - Missing items from the house - Items damaged or stained beyond repair - Additional guests not claimed on reservation - Late checkout ($100/hour fee, unless previously arranged with Host) - Jacuzzi and Pool cleaning fees resulting from excessively dirty water - Hourly management fees for processing such claims, or excessive visits to the property to resolve issues - Any signs of smoking.
-
Liability
The property owner and manager do not assume any liability for loss, damage, or injury to persons or their personal property. Neither does the owner accept any liability for any inconveniences, damage, loss, or injury arising from any temporary defects or stoppage in supply of water, gas, WiFi, electricity, or plumbing, as well as due to weather conditions, natural disasters, or other reasons beyond its control. Please report any maintenance needs for the premises, and we will respond as quickly as possible.
-
Obey the Law
Guests and visitors shall obey all laws of the State of California, as well as local laws, at all times while they are on the premises. Failure to abide by the laws of California or the above rules may cause guests to be asked to vacate the premises and forfeit all rents and security/damage deposits.
